The San Antonio Spurs will be without point guard Dejounte Murray on Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Murray won't play for what the Spurs are calling personal reasons.

Whenever a team lists personal reasons for players, you always have to hope for the best. Hopefully, everyone in Murray's family is good.

Murray missed the entire 2018-19 season after tearing his right ACL in the preseason. He's played in 30 games this season for the Spurs and is averaging 10.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 48.8 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from beyond the arc and 79.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The Spurs are 14-19 on the season. They are in eighth place in the Western Conference standings.

In a loaded Western Conference, San Antonio is eager to show it belongs in the playoffs. Many thought as long as the Spurs have head coach Gregg Popovich, they will always be considered contenders since he’s one of the brightest basketball minds on the planet.

However, this season has proved that it's going to be a fight all season for the Spurs to make the postseason.

The Spurs signed Murray to a four-year, $64 million extension before the season started. Had Murray not signed an extension, he would have entered restricted free agency next summer. San Antonio is happy it was able to lock Murray up for the long-haul.
