The NBPA on Friday morning announced its selection for various Players' Voice awards for the 2016-17 campaign.

Among those was the Best Defender award which was given to San Antonio Spurs star forward Kawhi Leonard.

Through his first six years in the league, Leonard has developed into arguably the top defensive player in the NBA. He already has two NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards to his name along with three consecutive selections to the NBA All-Defensive First Team, and an NBA All-Defensive Second Team nod.

He has proven to be quite a versatile player on the end floor with his ability to guard just about every position while possessing a seven-foot wingspan with 9.8-inch hands. He has earned the respect of his peers around the league after garnering this award for the first time in his career.

There could be many more defensive honors ahead of Leonard as he's just 26 years old and has several more highly productive years ahead of him as he enters his physical prime. He has an opportunity to go down as one of the best defenders that the league has ever seen when all is said and done.
