All things considered, the San Antonio Spurs are doing an admirable job of staying in playoff contention despite going through a carousel of injuries to their key players. Any other team with health issues as serious as that of the Spurs would probably have been eliminated by now. That being said, the Spurs can’t afford to lose another starter to injury, which is why there is an elevated level of concern in San Antonio after power forward LaMarcus Aldridge left Tuesday night’s road game against the Washington Wizards with a knee contusion, per the team’s official Twitter account.

Before his premature exit from the Wizards game, Aldridge was cooking, having scored 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field with a 5-for-6 line from the charity stripe. He also had four rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 18 minutes of floor duty.

There is no official word yet regarding Aldridge’s status, but for now, he could be labeled as probable for Thursday’s home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

LaMarcus Aldridge’s latest knee injury sounds a little bit more troubling when considering the fact that he had a treatment done on his left knee prior to the All-Star break, as noted by Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.

The Spurs entered the matchup with Washington with a 43-31 record. That’s good for sixth in the Western Conference, but with a few games left on the regular-season schedules of NBA teams, the Spurs are far from ensuring themselves of a spot in the postseason. For one, they were only ahead by three games of the Denver Nuggets when they woke up Tuesday.
