Former San Antonio Spurs legend Manu Ginobili was one of the most beloved players in franchise history. So when a young fan had oral surgery earlier this week, she gushed about her love for Ginobili and what he meant to the NBA.

The fan hailed Manu as “the best sixth man ever” and said “I want to shake his hand and tell him thank you.” She also got a fun little dig in, saying “Why did he have to go bald and retire?”

Ginobili himself got quite the kick out of the video, responding directly to the fan on Twitter.

Manu Ginobili spent the entirety of his 16-year career with the Spurs, winning the 2007-08 Sixth Man of the Year Award and helping the Spurs to four NBA titles.

The Argentinian is unquestionably one of the best foreign players in NBA history, and he willingly accepted his role as the first man off the bench for Gregg Popovich.

Not only did Ginobili make the “sixth man” his M.O., but he excelled in the role. Manu was named third-team All-NBA in 2008 and 2011, and he also ranks fifth in team history in terms of win shares. The Spurs retired Ginobili's No. 20 in March of 2019, forever immortalizing the man known as “Gino.”

Interestingly enough, Ginobili came very close to spending the latter years of his career with another franchise. The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly offered Manu a multi-year deal in the summer of 2016, shortly before he opted to re-sign with the Spurs.

Ginobili's decision to remain in San Antonio likely thrilled any number of Spurs fans, least of which this young fan.
