In a Q and A session on Twitter earlier today, Quincy Pondexter had the perfect response to a fan’s question. When asked to choose between fellow teammates DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge on who he would rather see be an All-Star this season if only one can make it, he had this to say:

Pondexter, who hasn’t made an All-Star appearance in any of his seven seasons in the NBA, doesn’t have a likely case this season. The San Antonio Spurs swingman is averaging 1.9 points, 1 rebound, and 0.5 assists per game while playing 5.7 minutes in the 34 games he’s suited up for.

His teammates, however, are both putting up numbers and performances worthy of All-Star consideration.

In his first season with the team following a trade in the offseason, DeRozan is putting up 21.7 points, 6.4 assists, and 6.1 rebounds. He has been leading the team in scoring and taken over as the focal point of the offense for much of the season. During his nine-year tenure with the Toronto Raptors, he made four All-Star teams, including being named a starter in 2017 and 2018.

LaMarcus Aldridge has been a force this season, as well. The fourth-year Spur is recording 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 blocks on the season. Aldridge is also owner to a massive 56-point game that took place in a Spurs victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. No stranger to All-Star weekend, LaMarcus has played in six All-Star games, including being named a starter in 2015.

Quincy Pondexter has a long way to go in the fan voting if he is looking to get into the All-Star voting, but it is likely that even if he can’t hack his way into the lineup, he will still be cheering on his teammates.
