Following his recent decision to retire from professional basketball, former San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker was not out of a job for long. In a write-up by Kristin Dean of KENS5, she reports that Parker has been hired by NorthRock Partners, a San Antonio-based global advisory firm, to take the lead in the company's sports division.

After 18 seasons in the NBA, this is definitely in Parker's alley, and he should be able to strive in the position he has been handed. It's also quite an impressive PR move by NorthRock, who have successfully scooped up one of San Antonio's most recognized sports names.

In a recent press release, Parker states how he intends to apply the knowledge he gained during his tenure in the NBA to the new challenge he will be facing.

“For all of my successes on the court the past two decades, I am equally proud of the planning and preparation that made it possible for me to safely retire from basketball on my own terms,” Parker said in the press release. “As I begin a new chapter, I look forward to leading a different kind of team at NorthRock, earning the trust of our sports, artists and entertainment clientele, and sharing my experience and counsel to help exceptional people live exceptional lives.”

In 17 seasons with the Spurs, Parker holds averages of 15.8 points (on 49.2 percent shooting), 0.4 three-pointers, 2.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 0.9 steals. He was selected as an All-Star on six separate occasions and retires as a four-time NBA champion.
