Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has apologized for a threatening tweet he sent out to an ESPN reporter

Jesse Washington, a senior for ESPN's The Undefeated, recently published a piece titled “Antonio Brown is an Instagram All-Pro. But is that the full picture?” Brown had an interesting response to Washington once he caught wind of the article.

“@JesseWashington wait to I see you bro we gone see what your jaw look like,” Brown tweeted at Washington on Friday, per the Post-Gazette.

On Wednesday, Brown issued a statement apologizing for his over-the-top remarks toward the reporter.

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

“I made a mistake in judgment with my tweet last week, and I apologize for that,” the statement says. “It is not OK to threaten anyone and I need to be better spiritually and professionally. Though I do not agree with the negative parts of the story about my personal life, I need to have better control over my actions to use social media as a way to engage with my fans, rather than use it improperly.”

This isn't the first time Brown has had a public confrontation with the media. Brown accused seasoned NFL journalist Ed Bouchette of creating a false injury report about Brown limping in practice during the preseason. However, Brown made it a point to acknowledge his wrongdoing early on this time around.

Brown will have to move past this latest off-field drama and give all of his focus to preparing for a tough Week 2 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
