Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had elbow surgery six months ago and now claims he doesn't have pain while throwing for the first time in years. Roethlisberger said in an interview with Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he has extreme confidence he will be ready to start the season and he is actually feeling younger now than he has the last two seasons.

“I'm throwing without pain for the first time in years,” Ben Roethlisberger told the Post-Gazette. “Some games, I would have a little pain. Some games, I would have a lot of pain. But in the New England game and the Seattle game [last season], it got to be too much. To be able to throw without pain now? That feels nice. That's a nice feeling. I know I'm not getting any younger, but I feel younger because I don't have any pain.”

Ben Roethlisberger got the green light to throw a month ago, and he said it felt good to get back out there and sling the rock around a little bit.

“But still, it felt so neat to throw a football. It had been a long time. I guess it was like riding a bike a little bit. You get back on and go. It's not like it had been a year. It has been months. I never throw much in the offseason, anyway, so I looked at the time I had off like it was my offseason.”

Right now Big Ben is throwing two times a week for 40 times during each session. Next week he expects to throw three times a week and will only continue to ramp up as the season gets closer.

There has also been some speculation that Ben Roethlisberger has gained weight, but according to the Steelers quarterback, he is actually lighter and more in shape than the last couple of years.
