Tom Brady signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he may intend on playing beyond just a couple of more seasons.

How do we know this?

Well, Adam Schefter of ESPN notes that there is a clause in Brady's contract that prevents the Buccaneers from tagging him after two years.

Obviously, this doesn't guarantee anything, but it could mean that Brady is leaving his options open beyond the 2021 campaign. Of course, Brady would be 44 going on 45 at that point, but it's just worth noting.

Tom Brady shocked the NFL world earlier this week when he announced that he would not be returning to the New England Patriots after 20 seasons.

The future Hall-of-Famer won six Super Bowl titles during his time with the Patriots, establishing himself as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.

Going into the offseason, there was rampant speculation that Brady could potentially play his football elsewhere in 2020, but as realistic as it may have seemed at the time, most chose not to believe it.

However, we now know that Brady had every intention of leaving the only NFL franchise he ever called home, as he elected to sign with a Buccaneers squad that is ripe with weapons and will represent a new challenge for him.

The Buccaneers have made just two playoff appearances since last winning the Super Bowl back in 2002-03, and they have not made a single trip to the postseason over the last 12 years, marking the longest active playoff drought in the NFC.

But Tom Brady aims to change that.
