Earlier this week, Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was placed in the concussion protocol after colliding with one of his offensive linemen during a play in training camp.

This had immediately put him through the process that the team has reported checked him out of Thursday morning, according to Gerry Dulac of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

This should push away concern of this being a situation that lingers on as the team medical staff has gotten a thorough check-up of him in the last couple of days. Although he is out of the protocol process, this will still likely mean that he will be out of action for the preseason game on Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers.

The Steelers are counting on Roethlisberger to once again be one of the leading factors offensively this upcoming to help push the team to contend for the Super Bowl. The roster is certainly stacked in the manner to potentially put the team in the spot to play deep into the playoffs. It may just be a manner of staying healthy throughout the course of the season, which will be much of the focus around the 36-year-old heading into his 15th season.

Roethlisberger is coming off yet another highly productive season that saw him earn his sixth Pro Bowl selection after recording 4,251 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes with a 64.2 completion rate and a 93.4 passer rating. This was his fifth season with more than 4,000 passing yards and seventh with more than 25 passing touchdowns.

Roethlisberger has shown the ability that he can still play at a high level that could remain much of the same in 2018. All of this should set up for what may be another exciting campaign in Pittsburgh with Roethlisberger at the forefront offensively helping lead the charge with his arm.
