The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to make kicker Chris Boswell earn all of his money this year. According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers pushed back Boswell's $2 million roster bonus from mid-March until after the final preseason game.

If Boswell would have not agreed to the change, the team would have cut him, and let him try to find work somewhere else.

Last year was a struggle for Boswell, who ended the season on injured reserve. Boswell missed seven field goals and five extra points and that caused a lot of grumbling from the fans who thought he should be cut from the team. On Tuesday, Boswell said that he was appreciative of the Steelers giving him another chance and he was focused on this season, not what happened last season.

“I know I’ve gotta be better than last year, but I’m not even paying attention to last year,” Boswell said via Pro Football Talk. “I’m focused on next kick. I’m focused on next Tuesday is my next team period. Just kinda going day by day, kick by kick.”

The only competition in-house right now is Matthew Wright who was signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent. Wright made 78.1 percent of his field goal attempts at UCF and said after signing with the Steelers he picked them because he felt like he had a chance to stick.
