The Pittsburgh Steelers believe they can still have a successful season this year, despite their slow start. The Steelers tied the Cleveland Browns 21-21 in their season opener and lost 42-37 to the Kansas City Chiefs at home in Week 2. Being 0-1-1 is an unfamiliar situation for the team, but they feel that that can iron out their kinks to get better very soon.

Defensive lineman and captain Cam Heyward believes the Steelers can beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3. The Bucs have been inspired this year behind backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, so it should make for a tough matchup, via Joe Rutter of Triblive.com:

“We’ve got a great group of guys that are going to come in ready to be hungry,” Heyward said. “We’re going to get the job done. We didn’t get the job done now. It’s going to start in practice, and we’re going to build toward it. We’re going to be ready Monday night.”

The Steelers showed that they could be resilient last week. The Chiefs got out to a 21-0 lead before Pittsburgh battled back into the game. However, their run game was almost nonexistent. James Conner lead the NFL in rushing after Week 1. He only recorded 8 carries for 17 yards against the Chiefs. Conner rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns against the Browns.

Ben Roethlisberger has proved that he his still an elite quarterback, but he shouldn't ever have to throw the ball 60 times as he did against the Chiefs. He completed 39 of his passing attempts for 452 yards and three touchdowns. If the Steelers want to win, they should establish their offensive identity.
