Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner has not played since December 2nd courtesy of an ankle injury that has kept him off the field. While there has been talk that Conner could return soon, Steelers guard Ramon Foster thinks it would be wise for Conner to just wait until the playoffs.

You have to appreciate Foster's confidence there, as Pittsburgh is far from a playoff lock.

The Steelers picked up a huge win over the New England Patriots this past Sunday to improve to 8-5-1 and maintain their hold on the AFC North, but the Baltimore Ravens are hot on their tails at 8-6.

Prior to going down with the injury, Conner was enjoying a terrific season, rushing for 909 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards per carry. In addition, Conner has hauled in 52 receptions for 467 yards and a score.

Conner, who ironically played his collegiate football at the University of Pittsburgh and also grew up in Erie, Pa., was originally selected by the Steelers in the third round (105th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Due to the presence of Le'Veon Bell, the 23-year-old played only scarcely during his rookie campaign, carrying the ball 32 times for 144 yards and not registering a single catch.

Pittsburgh does not have a very easy road to the playoffs, either. The Steelers will first head on the road to take on the NFC-leading New Orleans Saints this weekend before coming back home to wrap up their regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals on Dec. 30.

Pittsburgh is aiming to win its third straight AFC North title.
