The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for an AFC Divisional Round showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars at Heinz Field this coming Sunday. While Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier will not be able to join his teammates in that game because of a spinal injury that has left him unable to walk, he was there to watch them practice Wednesday.

Shazier posted an image on his Instagram account of him wearing Steelers gear, sitting in a wheelchair and flashing a smile. It’s nice to see Shazier in high spirit, despite the battle he is going through. The 25-year-old Ohio State product also has plenty of kind and encouraging words to say to his fans, who have been giving him their undying support.

Taking it day-by-day, but I’m far from done. The Lord has not finished his work yet. I want to say thank you to the fans and Steelers Nation for the prayers. If it wasn’t for my family, friends and your prayers I wouldn’t be were I am now. They have lifted me and my family through this journey and I ask for you to continue praying for me, as I continue to work daily on improving my health.

Shazier sustained a spinal injury back during the Steelers' 23-20 road win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Week 13. He was immediately taken to a Cincinnati hospital after the incident and spent a few days there before being transported back to Pittsburgh for further diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Before suffering the injury, Shazier had recorded 68 tackles this season, the most he’s had in a year since being selected 15th overall by the Steelers in the 2014 NFL Draft.
