Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier has been an inspiration both on and off the field for a lot of people. Ever since going down with his devastating spine injury a couple of seasons ago, Shazier has never let his injury keep him down.

After it looked initially like he might be paralyzed, Shazier has worked tirelessly to get himself back physically. He's made great strides, and continues to hope that he'll one day be able to return to the NFL. In the meantime he's been representing the Steelers as an ambassador and doing a lot of good in the community.

One goal Shazier hasn't accomplished yet is graduating from college, but that's about to change. Shazier left Ohio State early to enter the draft, and now he's going back to school, according to Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Although he originally went to school at Ohio State, he'll be finishing up his education at Pitt.

“I always try to tell people, when it comes to education, put your best foot forward,” Shazier said.

“To me, when it comes to recovery, I feel that when you continue to try to be yourself, instead of hiding from what you are now, I feel that it’s a better chance of having a better recovery,” he explained.

“Because it’s understanding that, ‘Hey, if I’m stuck in this situation, at least I can live with it.’ A lot of people are scared of the situation they’re in — or when they’re hurt, they want to hide from everybody and hide from the situation — but I feel like I’ve been working my butt off and I just want to still do the things and care for the people that I always did before.”

Shazier's recovery has been a great story to follow, and it's great to see him doing so many positive things. Here's hoping he continues to have nothing but success on his journey.
