Some people — especially older fans — consider Terry Bradshaw to be the greatest quarterback to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Contrary to that opinion, Bradshaw gave Ben Roethlisberger the ultimate compliment when asked who was the greatest quarterback in Steelers history.

“I would give it to Ben,” Bradshaw said, via 93.7 The Fan. “His numbers far exceed mine. I may have more Super Bowls, but he is a much better quarterback. I wasn’t bad in my era, but he’s big, strong, accurate, puts up monstrous numbers, and he’s won two Super Bowls. I pass that baton to him gladly. I absolutely have no problem with that. He deserves it.”

Without a doubt, Bradshaw and Roethlisberger played in different eras for the Steelers. When Bradshaw played in the NFL, he attempted over 400 passes just twice in his 14-year career. On the other hand, Roethlisberger has only had three seasons where he hasn't surpassed 400 passing attempts.

Nonetheless, Bradshaw was able to win four Super Bowls with the Steelers in the 1970s. Pittsburgh didn't see another Super Bowl victory until Roethlisberger arrived.

So far in his 16 seasons in the NFL, Roethlisberger has accounted for two Super Bowls in the Steelers' storied franchise. With Roethlisberger coming off of a season-ending elbow injury, his window to win another one could be closing.

Taking a look at just the numbers for the Steelers, the argument isn't particularly close, in favor of Roethlisberger. Again, in terms of Super Bowl rings, though, Bradshaw has the advantage over Pittsburgh's current quarterback.

Over the years, Bradshaw and Roethlisberger haven't always seen eye-to-eye. Regardless of what their relationship looks like behind closed doors, Bradshaw has nothing but praise for the veteran signal-caller of the Steelers.
