Just before the NFL season opener, star TJ Watt made headlines when he signed his massive contract extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers linebacker inked a four-year, $112 million deal that keeps him in town for a while. Safe to stay TJ Watt is fired up about the news, and the reported $80 million in guaranteed money that also comes with the contract.

But according to a report from Adam Schefter, not everyone in TJ Watt's was as enthusiastic about the new deal with the Steelers – particularly his agents.

Watt overruled his agents, who believed they could get more money on Thursday, marching into the office of Steelers president Art Rooney II and telling him they had a deal, according to Schefter. Watt then excused himself and announced he had to go work out, Schefter reports.

That sounds like the most TJ Watt contract signing you could ever imagine. The Steelers star just wants to play football and won't play around with a few extra figures if it distracts him from what matters most.

“He's arguably the best football player in the game right now, not just on defense, just in general,” Steelers icon Ben Roethlisberger said Wednesday. “I've been through negotiations here with contracts. One of the reasons I took less money was for guys like him to get paid, and he needs to get paid.

TJ Watt's value to the Pittsburgh Steelers cannot be overstated. Both fans and teammates alike can breath a sigh of relief that the man is here to stay.
