The Pittsburgh Steelers have made it clear that running back Le'Veon Bell will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Unfortunately, his prospects are not looking too bright at the moment.

There is plenty of speculation regarding Bell's current playing weight. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, his trainer Pete Bommarito insists that he is in the best shape of his career:

“He’s going to be the same Le’Veon Bell — only better, quicker and faster.”

Bell’s trainer responds to “ridiculous” speculation about the soon-to-be free agent’s shape, pointing out he’s feeling better in February than guys who played last season.

There are a number of teams that are reportedly interested in acquiring Bell's services. Rumors have now surfaced about the New York Jets growing concern that the three-time All-Pro has ballooned up to 260 pounds. This is much heavier than his usual playing weight which sits at around 225.

Any notion of Bell being out of shape would greatly damage his market value this offseason. He has long been seeking a lucrative contract that would not only make him the highest-paid running back in the NFL but one of its highest-paid offensive players. This was the whole reason why he sat out the entire 2018 campaign. It is safe to say that he has come too far to settle for anything less.

Many have questioned Bell's status as one of the elite running backs in the NFL. However, the 27-year-old is still in his prime and is healthier than ever after avoiding the grind of an entire NFL season. So, what can the Steelers get in return?
