Firefly Studios have announced that Stronghold: Warlords will be released a little bit later this year.

Stronghold: Warlords delayed until March 9th

In a tweet by its developers, Stronghold: Warlords' release date was revealed to have been delayed until March 9, 2021.

This is six weeks behind the original release date. According to Firefly Studios, the primary reason for the delay is the game's multiplayer mode. The developers intend to release the game with a balanced, fully-functioning multiplayer mode. Not wanting to go back on their promise, Firefly Studios opted to delay the release of Stronghold: Warlords for another month. That's better than, say, releasing a pretty broken game, but that's just us.

Fans have received the news well, showing more support to the developers and praising their transparency.

A whole new take on the Stronghold series

Stronghold has a strong fan following, especially since it is one of the few remaining real-time strategy (RTS) games that is still on-going. In Stronghold games, players build castles and fight with large armies of medieval warriors. Stronghold's castle building and management features have been the series' strongest point and is what made the series unique compared to its competitors.

Stronghold: Warlords will be a new take on the Stronghold series. From the usual European setting seen in previous games, Stronghold: Warlords is moving eastward. Players will get to siege castles as the Mongols, and battle against fellow samurai in Medieval Japan. Also a first in the series is the addition of AI Warlords, strong special units that fight with your armies and boost their abilities.

The delay may have disappointed us a little, but Stronghold: Warlords is still one of our most awaited PC games of 2021. We can wait a little longer if it meant perfection. And the samurai demands perfection, and so do the Mongols.
