It's no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 had a horrible launch on consoles. Its developer, CD Projekt Red, issued a public apology through its social media accounts.

SORRY FOR THE BAD GAME

CD Projekt Red started their apology by citing their streaming ban and lack of review copies for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They acknowledged that their decisions led to gamers not being able to make an informed choice on their purchase. “We should have paid more attention to making it play better on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” reads the statement.

They then proceeded to talk about their planned updates for the game. Citing their previous patches, the devs revealed that they are working on large patches. The next update will arrive within a week from now, while two large patches are coming in January and February. Details about these patches will be released before rolling them out on an update. “They won't make the game on last-gen look like it's running on a high-spec PC or next-gen console,” reads the statement. “But it will be closer to that experience than it is now.

CYBERPUNK 2077 REFUNDS FOR PLAYSTATION 4 AND XBOX ONE

The devs then opened up the discussion for refunds. They reiterated their desire to make sure that everyone who bought the game will be satisfied with their purchase. Before talking about the refunds, CD Projekt Red asked their fans to give them a chance to redeem themselves with fixes and updates. However, if a gamer can't wait for these to roll out, they can always refund.

“We would appreciate it if you would give us a chance, but if you are not pleased with the game on your console and don't want to wait for updates, you can opt to refund your copy.”

The statement then proceeded to talk about the refund process for the game. Digital purchases are much easier to refund, as game platforms have their own convenient refund systems in place. “For copies purchased digitally,” says the statement. “Please use the refund system of PSN or Xbox respectively.”

Those who purchased physical copies will have to try bringing it back to the store they bought it from first. If ever a refund with the store is not possible, gamers may contact CD Projekt Red through helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com. The refund offer will be up until December 21, 2020.

For PC gamers, you will have to go through the refund process of the platform you bought the game from. All three major storefronts that have the game, namely GOG.com, Epic Games Store, and Steam, all have their own refund processes.

The statement was signed by CD Projekt Red's executives, including co-founders Marcin Iwiński and Adam Kiciński.
