The Phoenix Suns have sometimes impressed with their play. However, they may have to play the Denver Nuggets without Deandre Ayton and Ricky Rubio.

Gina Mizell of The Athletic revealed that the Western Conference duel between two exciting young teams will have to happen without the Suns' first overall pick in 2018 while the Spanish wizard is doubtful due to illness.

It is a shame that these two may not get the chance to play the Nuggets because it provides an interesting narrative for the casual NBA fan. This Phoenix-Denver match pits two teams with exciting backcourt and frontcourt talent against each other in what was supposed to be an entertaining spectacle.

Ayton was supposed to make a return after returning from his 25-game suspension. His return to the team was a solid one in spite of the team's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. He finished the night with 18 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and a block on 47% shooting. His presence would have been important in keeping Nikola Hokic from doing whatever he wants on the floor.

Meanwhile, Rubio is a talented point guard that would help keep the pressure off Devin Booker. He's playing well for the Suns this season, averaging 14 points, five rebounds, and nine assists on 40% shooting.

The Suns have struggled for form recently and would have loved to have their two key men back. However, they will have to make do with Booker handling all of the offensive load by himself once more.
