Chris Paul will be 37 years old the next time the Phoenix Suns take the court. As the games approach their twilight, Paul evades his.

The 12-time NBA All Star was 6-of-7 shooting in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's Game 2 win over the Dallas Mavericks. He had 14 points, two assists and two rebounds to finish with 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting overall. The Suns defeated the Mavericks 129-109 to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.

It bears repeating. Paul turns 37 years old on Friday, when the Suns take on the Mavs for Game 3 in Dallas. To Paul, domination is just part of the joy.

“It’s fun. I love it,” Paul told reporters after the game. “What’s even better is having a guy like this (Devin Booker) on your team
too. You know, the guy when you’re down two isn’t afraid to shoot the 3. We were just in the locker room talking about it as a team, the end of the games, it’s exciting for the fans.”

It's not just the fans that experience the end-game thrills. It's exciting for his team, too.

“I'm not sure [how he does it]. When he comes back to start the fourth, for whatever reason, he's fresh,” said Suns head coach Monty Williams. “Sometimes I play him too much in the first and the third and I get a bit concerned if I should start him in the fourth. I'd love to sit here and tell you I knew how or why he does it. I don't know if our guys expect it, but I know they're grateful for it.”

Suns star Devin Booker is impressed “every time” by the NBA veteran's fourth-quarter heroics.

“It impresses us every time we see it. It doesn't surprise us,” he said. “I mean it's just the will to win. He sees a matchup he likes and, I mean you could hear [the Mavericks'] bench yelling ‘send him left.' You can try whatever you want to do, but he has a rebuttal move for you every time. Not only can he score, but he can make a play for somebody else.”
