Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker underwent surgery on Monday morning to repair the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint in his right hand, and following the surgery, the team and doctors determined that Booker will miss approximately six weeks as he recovers from the operation. The surgery was performed by Dr. Steven Shin at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, per the Suns.

This morning, it was reported that Booker would miss at least four weeks, effectively keeping him off the court for the entirely of the Suns training camp. Six weeks from the date of the surgery (September 10th) would mean that Booker would miss training camp, all five preseason games, as well as at least the first three regular season games against the Dallas Mavericks (October 17th), Denver Nuggets (October 20th), and Golden State Warriors (October 22th).

At just 20 years of age on March 24, 2017, Booker scored a career-high 70 poitns on 21-of-40 shooting from the field, 4-of-11 from beyond the arc, and 24-26 from beyond the free throw line. He also finished with eight rebounds, six assists, three steals, and one block in the best all-around line of the season.

In the 2017-18 season, the third of his career, Booker averaged 24.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 2.7 three-pointers per game on 43.2 percent shooting from the field and 38.3 percent from beyond the arc.
