The Tennessee Titans have been up and down this season but they enter their bye week with a 5-5 record and are right in the thick of the playoff race in the AFC. It should be an exciting season the rest of the way for the Titans with some storylines that need to be followed. Let's breakdown the three biggest storylines for the Titans going into their bye week.

3. Will Dion Lewis find a role again?

There is no doubt Derrick Henry is the best running back on the Titans, but when the team brought in Dion Lewis most believed the two would be a 1-2 punch. It started off like that but the team has not been giving Lewis much run this year. On the season, Lewis only has 21 carries for 79 yards and against the Chiefs, he didn't even get a touch.

Will Lewis continue to ride the pine or going forward will the team try to have him more involved in the game plan.

2. Titans defense

The Titans defense was playing really well for most of the season but the last two games have raised some questions. Against the Chiefs they gave up 32 points which considering who they were playing isn't terrible but the previous game they gave up 30 points to the Carolina Panthers.

The Titans play the Jaguars out of the bye and that game should give a good indication of how well the defense is playing. The offense is fine but if the team wants to get back to the playoffs it's going to take a really good effort from this side of the ball.

1. Is Ryan Tannehill the long-term option for this team?

It's pretty clear at this point that Marcus Mariota isn't the wrong term option for the Titans but could Ryan Tannehill be? Tannehill has started the last four games and he looks like a guy who can still be a long term starter in the NFL. He has a good feel for the offense and has made the big plays when they need to be made.

He only threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs but he made winning plays late in the game. Many believed that the Titans would draft a quarterback after this season or try to find one in free agency, but if Tannehill can have a strong finish to the season, maybe the team should consider him as the long term option.
