The Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers had a pretty eventful joint practice session on Monday. Besides the obvious scuffle between the teams, J.J. Watt also injured his groin during practice.

“Yeah, it’s all just precautionary,” Watt said, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “The groin tightened up a little bit. Rather than try to push through and do some damage to it, I shut it down. I’ve gotten smarter as I’ve gotten older. I started listening to the trainers a little bit more than listening to my own brain.”

Texans fans shouldn't be worried about Watt as he still was able to ride a bike into the sunset after the teams concluded practice. Although, Watt, a 290-pound defensive juggernaut broke a kid's bike in the process.

The Packers have always had a tradition of players riding bikes with kids walking alongside them at training camp. Watt, a Wisconsin native wanted to take part in the joyful tradition as he drew cheers from an opposing crowd.

The Texans will take on the Packers on Thursday in their first preseason game this year. It's likely that Watt will be one of the many players who aren't sporting any pads on the sideline. This isn't new for Watt as he barely got on the field during last year's series of preseason games.

There's no need to rush Watt back to the field, especially in meaningless games before the regular season. A player of Watt's caliber doesn't need snaps in the preseason to get him prepared for the rigors of a 16-game season. After all, this is his ninth season in the NFL.
