It has been a steady recovery process for Houston Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt from a broken leg that he suffered last season that has seen him take some notable steps forward in the last few months.

This has him put him on pace to be on the field for the regular season opener against the New England Patriots. It is something that Watt voiced much confidence that he will be ready to play come September, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

However, the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year expressed confidence in his availability for the season opener.

“Oh yeah, there's no doubt,” Watt said

The 29-year-old hasn't suffered any setbacks along the way while his increased activity in the offseason workouts through to training camp has given them him a firm belief that he will take the field against the Patriots. It is a target date that he has been gearing for after seeing his 2017 season come to an end after just five games and a total of 24 games over the last two seasons due to injuries.

The Texans have been quite confident about what Watt can bring to the table now that he appears to be finally healthy past his leg and back issues. Head coach Bill O'Brien has voiced that he believes that the Pro Bowl defensive end can get back to playing at the level that helped him earn three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards. Watt has also voiced a similar sentiment about his ability on the field.

Things are heading toward him being back in the fold to start the season where he will have plenty of motivation to prove that he can still play at an elite level. It is simply on his shoulders to demonstrate that with his performance in the 2018 season.
