On Tuesday, Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre continued his streak of out-of-touch public stances and behavior when discussing the standoff between the Houston Texans and quarterback Deshaun Watson.

During a conversation with Yahoo Sports, Favre was critical of Watson's justified expressions of frustration (and corresponding trade request) with the dysfunctional and racist franchise in Houston that is wasting the 26-year old star's prime seasons.

The NFL's all-time interception leader has received a hearty dose of criticism for his antiquated, anti-player comments, and perhaps nobody rebutted his remarks more directly than Martellus Bennett.

The outspoken former tight end lambasted Favre in an epic Twitter thread on Wednesday, calling out the Hall of Famer's hypocritical stance as an example of white privilege, among other problems.

“White QBs can demand a trade, dictate who the team brings in the building, but when Black QBs exercise their power muthaf*ckas like Brett Farve start the oppressive talk. Gtfoh. Eli Manning was drafted and told a f*cking team he didn’t want to play for them. Hahaha.”
Deshaun Watson do not let the media try to control your narrative, you have power use it. F*ck this loyal contract sh*t. No team is loyal to any player why should a player be obligated to be loyal when teams constantly break terms of contract whenever they please.
I’ve been in the room with numerous star QBs and I’ve seen the power held by those at that position who performs the way you do. And I believe you’re beginning to realize that power you have. Exercise it to the fullest Deshaun Watson.”
Bennett continued the thread in response to ignorant commenters asking what the conversation had to do with race.
“Obviously you don’t understand the constructs of the society that we live within was ‘DESIGNED' to oppress black people. Those same systems flowed into every aspect of society because those same people used that philosophy everywhere. Not just in government.
So this is all you black men being able to do? The only opportunity that allows us HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS of black men the opportunity to become millionaires. As if their aren’t any hundreds and thousands of white players doing the same?”

Towards the end of his career, Favre repeatedly used his leverage as a franchise icon to hamstring the Green Bay Packers for three-plus, ultimately forcing the team to trade him to the New York Jets for a season.

Deshaun Watson has been linked with numerous trades in recent weeks after he publicly made it known he didn't want to play for Houston anymore. It seems unlikely we'll see Watson in a Texans uniform again and Bennett is making it clear that the star QB's voice must be heard.
