The ongoing trade rumors between the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins may be for naught. According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Jadeveon Clowney remains adamant that he doesn't want to be traded to the Dolphins.

In just the past week, the Texans have gone from expecting Clowney to join the team to thinking they might have to trade the premier pass-rusher. The Texans placed their franchise tag on Clowney this offseason but their former No. 1 pick has yet to sign it.

After having the franchise tag placed on him, Clowney made it known that he was going to hold out in hopes of negotiating a long-term deal with Houston. The Texans and Clowney were unable to mutually agree on a deal.

Nonetheless, the 26-year old sack-artist was expected to join the team after Week 3 of the preseason. Clowney still hasn't shown any signs of wanting to arrive at the Texans' facility ahead of the regular season.

Earlier this offseason, Dee Ford and Frank Clark were traded to new teams. Shortly after being traded, both players landed lucrative contracts that paid them an excess of $17 million per season. As a result, Clowney is understandably setting his asking price in the same range.

To the dismay of Texans' fans, things have quickly taken a turn for the worse. Following the failed attempts to agree on a deal, both sides are beginning talks on a trade. Earlier this week, it was reported that Clowney met with the Dolphins to gauge his interest in the organization.

Due to him not signing his franchise tender yet, Clowney essentially holds a no-trade clause and can control where he is traded to. Aside from the Dolphins, the Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, and Seattle Seahawks have been rumored to be interested in his services.

Over the past two seasons, Clowney has tallied 18.5 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, 42 quarterback hits, and three forced fumbles. Therefore, the market for a pass-rusher of his caliber should be heating up before the regular season.
