The Kansas City Chiefs have a rich history, but you don't have to go far to find the best team in franchise history.

The Chiefs have won two Super Bowls, with one coming in 1969 and one in 2019. The 1969 team was special in knocking off the Minnesota Vikings to win the team's first title, but it's still the second-best team in franchise history.

There were a lot of roadblocks that tried to get in the way of the Chiefs winning it all, but they made it through everything to earn a Super Bowl victory.

The regular season did have some hiccups, but that probably actually helped them come playoff time. To start the season, the Chiefs knocked off the Jacksonville Jaguars and scored 40 points in the process. Patrick Mahomes started his season strong by throwing for 378 yards and three touchdowns.  However, the defense did give up 26 points in that game.

In Week 2, it was much of the same with the Chiefs having no issue with the Oakland Raiders. Everyone was looking forward to the Week 3 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens and it lived up to the hype. The defense struggled a bit, but the offense scored 33 points and that led to a victory. In Week 5 and Week 6, the Chiefs took a little step back by losing to the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans.

It was in Week 7 when many thought the Chiefs' season was over. Mahomes suffered a knee injury that at first looked like it might keep him sidelined for the rest of the season. Even with the injury, Matt Moore led the Chiefs to a 30-6 victory against the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs went 2-2 in the next four weeks before heading into the bye week.

Coming out of the bye, Mahomes was back in the fold and against the Raiders, the offense put up 40 points, which led to a blowout victory. Each of the next three games, the Chiefs didn't score more than 26 points, but they still we're able to come away with wins.

At the beginning of the season, the defense was an issue, but as the season went on, they started to play better. In Week 15 and Week 16, the Chiefs only gave up three points in each game. To close the regular season, the Chiefs scored a 31-21 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

In the playoffs, nothing came easy for the Chiefs. In the divisional round, they were down 21-0 after the first quarter but came storming back to come away with a 51-31 victory. In the AFC Championship Game, they had all kinds of issues against the Titans early on, but once again they made a comeback in grabbing a 35-24 win.

In the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, at times it looked their luck was finally going to run out. The 49ers were up 20-10 after the third quarter, but in the 4th quarter, it was the Patrick Mahomes show as the Chiefs put up 21 points en route to a 31-20 victory.

Mahomes had a big fourth quarter, but without running back Damien Williams, the Chiefs would have been in trouble. Williams rushed 17 times for 104 yards and a touchdown. He also caught four passes for 29 yards and a touchdown. The Super Bowl MVP award was given to Mahomes.

The regular season did have some slip-ups, but there is no doubting how special of a season it was for the Chiefs. Every time Mahomes had the ball in his hands, there was a threat of a touchdown being scored. Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and many others were difference-makers for the offense.

The hope now for the Chiefs is that this will soon be the second or third best team in their history. With Mahomes, there is hope that this can be the start of the dynasty, and that could make for a lot more great teams for the franchise.
