The New Orleans Pelicans were able to upset the Utah Jazz on Monday and they didn't earn the victory in a normal fashion. Following their win over the Jazz, it was revealed that the Pelicans beat Utah despite their discrepancy in three-point attempts during the game, via StatMuse.

Throughout the game, the Jazz attempted 43 three-pointers in the game, making 17 of them for a modest 39.5 percent from beyond the arc. On the other hand, the Pelicans attempted only 11 three-pointers in the game as they converted on seven of them.

Provided that, Utah had 51 of their 124 points in the contest coming from three-pointers. As for New Orleans, they had only 21 of their 129 points stemming from made three-point shots.

While looking at the other numbers, the Pelicans out-rebounded the Jazz 53-39 during their surprising victory. Also, New Orleans shot a whopping 56.5 percent from the field as they elected to take easier baskets instead of chucking up threes.

Monday's narrow loss to the Pelicans was only the eighth loss of the season the Jazz have sustained this season. Utah still holds the best record in the NBA at 27-8, putting three games ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference.

In today's NBA, the majority of the league revolves their offense around being able to take an abundance of three-point attempts to stretch the floor. The Golden State Warriors have altered the mentality of quite a few teams in the past decade. Despite three-pointers being the preferred means of scoring for plenty of teams, the Pelicans broke the norm in their win over the Jazz.
