The Denver Broncos started the 2019 season cold. They lost their first four games, and at one point were 3-8. However, they turned their fortunes around in the end, and finished the season winning four of their final five games.

That meant they ended with a respectable 7-9 record. And it also showed that they are not that far off from competing.

If the Broncos want to make a true playoff push, though, they need to make some improvements. That includes making additions to the wide receiver corps. And one great way to achieve that is through the NFL Draft.

Lucky for Denver, this year's draft is absolutely loaded at wide receiver. And with the 15th-overall pick, they should have a lot of options available to them.

However, if he's still available, it's Henry Ruggs III they should be targeting.

Ruggs has elite potential. He's got insane speed, running the 40-yard dash in under 4.3 seconds. That's not the only upside to his game.

Ruggs reeled in just 40 receptions in 2019. However, he racked up 746 yards and seven receptions while doing so. And even threw in two carries for 75 yards and another touchdown.

The receiver didn't get all that many catches, but he was also on a stacked Alabama team. With so many mouths to feed it makes sense that Ruggs didn't put up the most insane numbers last season.

Ruggs is a very good route runner with reliable hands. His upside makes him comparable to Tyreek Hill. And it's hard to imagine any team wouldn't want a receiver of that caliber on their roster.

That goes double for the Broncos. Denver has a star-in-the-making in Courtland Sutton. However, the rest of the receivers on their roster combined for just 52 receptions, 567 yards and one touchdown last season. Clearly, there's an obvious need at the position.

Denver also has a young quarterback in Drew Lock. As a rookie last season, Lock flashed a good amount of potential. He had a few big games and helped the Broncos' late-season push.

However, Lock also had some moments that showed off his youth and inexperience. And those moments made it pretty clear that the Broncos need more weapons. Those weapons will make things much easier on the young quarterback.

So why not get him a new receiver — a receiver who can grow with Lock and also one who can help out immediately, like Ruggs?

Ruggs is the best of both worlds. He's an immediate threat due to his speed and strong route running. And as he grows, he could turn into one of the very best in the entire NFL.

If that's the case, Denver could be looking at a legitimately elite wide receiver duo to go along with their promising quarterback. Throw in Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay at running back and Noah Fant at tight end and Denver suddenly has a loaded offense. Why wouldn't they want to take a chance on forming that unit? Adding Ruggs would do just that.
