There are three guards that come up in the NBA MVP conversation weekly. You have two-time MVP Stephen Curry, who is also the greatest three-point shooter of all time, Damian Lillard, averaging just over 29 points for the season, and he's one of the NBA's best closers in the game.

Then you have a young superstar in Luka Doncic who is a walking triple-double. According to NBA.com's latest MVP rankings, these players are all in the top 10, Curry in the seventh spot, Lillard eighth, and Doncic ninth. Let's talk about these three point guards.

Ever since Doncic entered the league, he's been racking up monster numbers. This season he is averaging 29.1 points per game, nine assists, and eight rebounds. A stat line like this is nothing short of exceptional, especially at the age of only 21. Doncic spoke with ESPN's Stephen A Smith about being in the NBA MVP race.

“I don't believe I should be in the MVP conversation this year. I want to get in the playoffs.”

The Dallas Mavericks are 13-15, below the expectations most had for them this year. The Mavs are still one of the most dangerous teams in the league, so there's plenty of time for Doncic to get his squad on track and still make a run for NBA MVP.

Damian Lillard has been the man for the Portland Trail Blazers for nearly a decade. Whenever a game is close, it's Dame Time, and he's one of the most feared players in the league in clutch moments.

The Oakland native might be the most underrated superstar ever. This season Lillard has been playing without his right-hand man CJ McCollum and starting center Jusuf Nurkic. Without the two, he's managed to carry the Blazers to an impressive 16-10 record. Lillard is a man on a mission and isn't being shy about saying he wants MVP honors.

“I see myself as the top of the league. I'm one of the best players in the league; The best players win MVP. I think what you see is those players have a heavy load.” Lillard said in a recent interview with reporters.

Last but certainly not least is Stephen Curry, who is having a year almost identical to his NBA MVP season in 2015-16 season. That's when he joined the 50-40-90 club and set an NBA record with 402 made three-point field goals in a season.

Curry is averaging thirty points per game, five assists, and five rebounds. He currently has the Warriors on track to make the playoffs with a record of 15-13. Curry, in a postgame interview, made it clear that his antics on the court do the talking.

“The game speaks for itself.” Curry added, ” Obviously, that's an amazing accomplishment being in the conversation.”

LeBron James, Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Kevin Durant hold the top four spots; which one of these point guards can climb up the ladder? The NBA is where amazing happens, and I'm sure this will be a fantastic race to the NBA MVP trophy.
