Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Andre Roberson has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation from left patellar knee surgery and will be sidelined for an additional two months. Roberson sustained a ruptured left patellar tendon last season in January. The initial injury is said to be healing well, but Roberson is experiencing irritation from a suture which was placed in his leg.

This is a tough blow for Roberson and the Thunder. While Roberson is not a good offensive player, he is one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA and a pest on opposing guards and forwards. The 6-foot-7 Roberson was an All-Defensive second-team selection in 2016-17.

When Roberson was on the court last season, opponents had an offensive rating of 99.2. The rating jumped all the way up to 110.7 when Roberson went to the bench. His impact on the defensive end of the floor is unmatched and the Thunder are once again going to struggle to stop teams from scoring in his absence.

In 39 games last season, Andre Roberson averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. The 26-year-old shot 53.7 percent from the field, 22.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 31.6 percent from the free-throw line. As you can see, shooting is not Roberson's strong suit, but his tenacity on defense is what makes him such a valuable player for OKC.
