The mystery of Oklahoma City Thunder wing Alex Abrines continues.

Alex Abrines has been sidelined since Christmas for unknown reasons, and even though he is currently on the active roster, he is still “not in a position to play right now,” according to Thunder head coach Billy Donovan.

Donovan said that Abrines will not even play in the G League games and added that he has been “as open as I can” by making it clear that Abrines will play when he is ready.

On the season, Abrines has appeared in 29 games and is averaging 5.6 points over 19.8 minutes per contest while shooting 35.9 percent from the floor, 32.3 percent from three-point range and 92.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The 25-year-old, who came over to the NBA from Spain, was originally selected by Oklahoma City in the second round (32nd pick overall) of the 2013 NBA Draft.

However, Abrines did not make it over to the United States to play for the Thunder until 2016.

During his rookie campaign, Abrines participated in 68 contests, registering 6.0 points per game across 15.5 minutes a night while making 39.3 percent of his field-goal attempts, 38.1 percent of his long-distance tries and 89.8 percent of his foul shots.

The following year, the Spaniard took the court 75 times, recording 4.7 points through 15.1 minutes per game while connecting on 39.5 percent of his shots, 38 percent of his triples and 84.8 percent of his free throws.

The Thunder currently own a record of 30-18 and have won four straight games, most recently defeating the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.
