Former Oklahoma City Thunder guard Anthony Morrow has recently shed some light on the momentous events that transpired some three years ago when Kevin Durant decided to walk away from the Thunder.

Speaking to Ben Stinar of Amico Hoops, Morrow explained why in his mind, Durant's decision had very little to do, if any, with his relationship with co-superstar Russell Westbrook

“It wasn’t as much to do with Russ as the media made it look like at all, I know that for a fact,” Morrow said.

“He wanted to build on his legacy, he wanted to win. He felt like we tried, 10 years, it ain’t work… I could tell you that that’s how he was thinking about that.”

Everybody loves a juicy narrative, and in the case of Durant and Westbrook, it was perhaps only natural that the media pit these two alphas against each other during their time together with the Thunder.

In truth, Durant's relationship with Westbrook may or may not have had an effect on his desire to sign with the Golden State Warriors. Only Durant would know this for a fact, and it's not like he's going to tell us. However, if we were to believe Morrow here — who must have surely built a personal relationship with both Durant and Westbrook during the two seasons he spent as their teammate — then it seems that Durant's decision was motivated purely by his desire to win.

In this respect, Durant definitely made the right choice in joining what was already the best team in the league, as he now shoots for an unprecedented three-peat with the Dubs.
