The NBA free agency window is officially open and teams across the league are signing players left and right. It's an exciting time for everyone involved, as nearly everybody is securing the bag. Lu Dort is celebrating on Thursday night, as he has agreed to a sizable contract to remain with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Dort has agreed to sign a five-year $87.5 million contract to remain in Oklahoma City. That's a solid deal for a player who has worked his way up from the bottom of the depth chart, as he is now a key rotational player for the Thunder.

He should continue to fit in with the scheme, as he is a great compliment to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the backcourt. Additionally, with the Chet Holmgren in town, the Thunder are creating a solid young roster to build upon. We'll see how it all plays out, but at the very least, Oklahoma City is shaping up nicely on paper. As long as the rookies develop, there is no telling what this franchise can accomplish in the coming years.

Dort more than deserves his new $87.5 million deal. Last season he averaged 17.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and had a .404 shooting percentage as well. Each of those are career highs and he is in line to continue improving. This is a great signing for the Thunder, as the organization retains a productive and consistent guard to play alongside their exciting rookies. Look for Oklahoma City to do their best to continue developing their young roster.
