The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Friday they plan to compensate hourly arena workers during the coronavirus shutdown.

The Thunder are just the latest NBA team to do this generous act:

The NBA suspended play last week after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus. The Jazz were actually about to face the Thunder before the NBA suspended play.

No one on the Thunder has yet to test positive.

Before the season got suspended, the Thunder were in fifth place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 40-24. Led by Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder actually have a better record than the Houston Rockets, who traded Paul to OKC for former MVP Russell Westbrook.

Most pundits thought the Thunder were going to miss the playoffs this season after trading Westbrook and Paul George in the same summer. However, Paul and Gilgeous-Alexander have meshed quicker than most expected and now OKC figures to be a player in the Western Conference playoffs assuming the season does resume in the summer.

Paul is averaging 17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists on the season for the Thunder. The future Hall of Famer is shooting 48.9 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 90.0 percent from the free-throw line.

SGA, meanwhile, is putting up 19.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists. The youngster is shooting 47.3 percent from the floor, 35.1 percent from the 3-point line and 80.1 percent from the charity stripe.
