Minnesota Timberwolves guard Derrick Rose suffered a sprained ankle during the team's 123-120 overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.

Rose made contributions across the board in scoring 25 points and adding nine assists in 39 minutes of action, but left the game in overtime due to the injury.

As for the severity of the injury, it's unknown at this point, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.

Wolves say injury that knocked D-Rose out of the OT is a sprained right ankle. It was the left one’s soreness that kept him out at OKC on Sunday. He’ll be re-evaluated before team flies to Miami tomorrow

Derrick Rose has certainly had a resurgence this season in averaging 18.7 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game and the Timberwolves would love to have him back on the court for the upcoming stretch of road games.

He has made huge contributions this season, and keeping the injury issues out of the way would help him continue to be a valuable asset for the franchise moving forward.

The disappointing loss to the Hawks snapped Minnesota's two-game winning streak, with Tom Thibodeau's team now sitting at 16-19 on the season due to some struggles over the past several weeks.

Next up is a matchup with the Miami Heat on Sunday, which will be the first of another three-game road trip.

After that game, the Timberwolves will prepare for trips to take on the New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics before hosting the Orlando Magic next Friday.
