The 2018 offseason is still ongoing, but many are already turning their attention to the star-packed free agency crop of 2019. One of the stars that could be on the move is Jimmy Butler of the Minnesota Timberwolves. There are rumors that the star swingman is unhappy in Minnesota and he's interested in testing the open market.

Additionally, there have been rumors of a Butler and Kyrie Irving pairing somewhere next season. One ESPN panel believes that the most likely destination for Butler is with the New York Knicks.

While Knicks fans would be over the moon with either star, a pairing of the two still looks unlikely at best. In order to clear enough cap space for two max contracts, the Knickerbockers will need to trade out the contracts of Joakim Noah, Courtney Lee, and Tim Hardaway Jr.

Until then, a pairing of the two stars is only a pipe dream.

Of course, if the two aren't completely serious about teaming up, the Knicks could still pursue Jimmy Buckets. Butler fits the type of player that David Fizdale drools over. He's a tough, rugged defender who has decent length and is capable of giving full effort on both ends of the floor.

But anyone who has paid attention to the NBA in the past few years knows that nothing is certain. An unexpected trade, one unhappy player, or one unfortunate injury can change everything.

Knicks fans can dream of Butler for now, but the 2019 offseason is a long ways away.
