As early as last season, many had set their eyes on the Minnesota Timberwolves. They were a team with a lot of young potential stars in Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, and Zach LaVine.

But everything didn't turn out as expected. The Timberwolves had a 31-51 record. And everybody put their eyes off the team once again.

But the Timberwolves made waves when they traded Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the No. 7 overall pick to the Chicago Bulls for Jimmy Butler and the No. 16 overall pick.

Acquiring the All-Star guard Butler was just the first piece of the domino. The Timberwolves ended up signing Taj Gibson and Jeff Teague.

One player looking for a home immediately took notice of what was brewing in Minnesota. According to The HoopsHype Podcast, Crawford was so impressed with the Timberwolves' core that he decided to sign with the team.

Crawford was particularly impressed with the Butler acquisition. He said:

“Now, being around him, you realize that he does so many things for this organization – on and off the court. It's more than just scoring points and grabbing rebounds and playing great defense, it's also the way he leads and the way he approaches everything. He's a star who does all of the heavy lifting, but fills in all of the holes and does all of the little things as well. He just does so much and he's a joy to play with.”

It looks like Crawford has a lot of reasons to be impressed, and Butler is not there to disappoint.

Butler is leading the Timberwolves by averaging 21.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. And for the first time in a long time, the Timberwolves are serious playoff contenders.

The team is currently the third seed in the West with a record of 29-16.
