Prior to the Minnesota Timberwolves' matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, an old video of Patrick Beverley went viral. In that video (recorded prior to the start of the season), Beverley said that the hardest player to guard in the NBA was Luka Doncic. It was interesting to see the normally fiery guard give his praise to a different player.

However, after the Timberwolves eviscerated the Mavs on Friday night, Patrick Beverley walked back his stance on Luka Doncic. After their win, the bulldog point guard quote-tweeted that video and basically said that it wasn't the case anymore.

To be fair to Beverley, he and the Timberwolves did a fine job slowing down Doncic in this game. Doncic scored 24 points on 8-18 shooting and 5-11 from deep, along with 10 rebounds and eight assists. Those are still decent numbers, but a far cry from the production the Slovenian wunderkind has been dishing out recently. His -22 plus-minus also sticks out like a sore thumb.

Avid fans know that Beverley and Doncic have a bit of history against each other. The two faced each other multiple times in the playoffs in the last few years. However, every single time, Doncic has bested Beverley, leading to the Clippers' exit. However, this year seems to be different for the Timberwolves.

Beverley made sure to clear things up though in a follow-up tweet, saying that he had nothing but love for Doncic. It's just that this time, he won the matchup.

It's possible that the Timberwolves and the Mavs will face each other again in the playoffs. When that happens, everyone will be expecting a feisty matchup filled with trash-talk and perhaps a signature game from one of these players.
