The Tennessee Titans are among the teams reportedly looking to make a splash this offseason. It seems their plans will not include kicker Ryan Succop.

According to Terry McCormick of TitansInsider.com, Tennessee is relaxing Succop:

The move frees up $2 million in cap space for the Titans to work with this offseason. However, they will have to pay $2.1 million in dead money.

Succop has served as a vital piece of the special teams in Tennessee for the last six seasons. He had even signed a five-year, $20 million contract extension heading into the 2018 campaign for his consistency. Unfortunately, he underwent surgery on his knee and began the 2019 NFL season on injured reserve.

Although Succop managed to make his return, he struggled to find his footing after missing all but one of his six field goal attempts. The Titans eventually opted to place him back on injured reserve and secure a replacement for the rest of the year.

The fact that this team managed to lead such a resurgence without any stability at kicker is indicative of just how impressive their playoff run was. Regardless, it is safe to assume that this will be a point of emphasis for them this offseason.

Of course, they will have a much better idea of how the market looks once free agency begins. They will also be able to gauge their options in the 2020 NFL Draft. For now, The Titans are still focused in taking part in the potential sweepstakes for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
