Another new detail emerges in the acquisition of defensive end Jadeveon Clowney for the Tennessee Titans. The team reportedly waived the franchise tag clause of the veteran's potential $15 million contract, which would allow him to test the free-agent waters come March.

In the event that Clowney's reunion with Titans head coach Mike Vrabel turned out to be a success, he will be eligible to find a new team in the offseason. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that Clowney will leave after the season. At this stage of his career, he would rather want to settle in a place preferably until the day he hangs his cleats sometime in the future.

The three-time Pro Bowler also had strong suitors in the Titans, the New Orleans Saints, and the Seattle Seahawks during the past few days. However, he prioritized his familiarity with Vrabel along with an opportunity to contribute right off the bat and ultimately went with the Titans.

Clowney recently came off a down campaign where he tallied subpar numbers compared to his previous seasons. He contributed 21 total tackles, 31 combined tackles, and 3 sacks while playing behind six-time Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner in Seattle.

Despite coming in on a few days' notice, he can still take over the reins on a subpar defensive line for the upcoming season. Him being the main man on the Titans' defensive rotation would help him have a bounce-back campaign in 2020.

Clowney will be the only significant addition to the team's roster after they concluded a quiet offseason. He will look to bring his veteran presence to a Titans side that is raring to exceed the level of success that they have attained last season.
