Since tearing his ACL last September, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has been on a steady path toward a full recovery from the significant injury. He has continued to show progress in his rehab that has given the team much confidence that he will be back on the field well ahead of the 2018 season.

According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Vikings are expecting Cook to be a full participant in the upcoming training camp.

It is another a huge hurdle that  Cook toward being back in the fold as this is a clear sign that he has neared a full recovery from the injury less than a year removed from surgery. There will be several other physical checks points that he must pass, but his ability to be able to take the field without any limitations is a hugely encouraging sign of what may be ahead.

The Vikings have much stock in Cook taking firm control of the starting job next season especially after a strong showing his rookie campaign prior to suffering the ACL tear. Prior to the injury, he had recorded 354 rushing yards while hauling in 11 catches for 90 receiving yards through the first month of the season. This includes posting 127 rushing yards in the season-opening win over the New Orleans Saints.

Cook has shown the ability to be versatile and effective option in both the running and passing game that should a major asset to the offense with Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins now under center. He could be featured heavily in both regards to helping the team get into the position to make another deep playoff run.

In the meantime, his full medical clearance for training camp is big step forward in the recovery process that could lead to him putting together a promising 2018 campaign.
