Dalvin Cook is the heart and soul of the Minnesota Vikings, and losing him at this point would be a tough blow in a disappointing season. The Vikings star dealt with an ankle injury scare in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers, but he's okay after he was helped off the field in the third quarter.

After taking a handoff, the Vikings running back was tackled and fumbled the ball while going to the ground. Jeremy Chinn returned the fumble for a second touchdown of the day after scoring on the previous play:

Cook was walking gingerly as he went to the medical tent. Luckily, the injury was nothing serious and he returned to the game.

Despite missing a game due to injury earlier this season, Cook came into Sunday's tilt against the Panthers with 1,069 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. The Vikings star is the second-leading rusher in the NFL and has the most rushing touchdowns in the league.

Injuries have been an unfortunate theme in Cook's career, with him missing a total of 20 games in his first four seasons before Week 12. However, there's no doubt that the Florida State product is one of the best running backs in the NFL when he's able to remain healthy.

It's good to see that Cook's injury isn't serious. The Vikings are now hoping to make a second-half comeback after allowing those two Panthers defensive scores. Minnesota is hoping to avoid a second consecutive loss after a disappointing defeat at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11.

Carolina is trying to get to 5-7 on the season. The Panthers have Teddy Bridgewater back under center after he missed last week's game against the Detroit Lions. Christian McCaffrey is still out with a shoulder injury.
