Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook will report to training camp after all.

According to head coach Mike Zimmer, the 24-year-old running back will be in attendance when Vikings training camp begins on Tuesday.

Earlier last month, it was reported that Cook could choose to sit until he received a new contract from the Vikings. The former No. 41 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is slated to make $1.3 million as he enters the final year of his rookie deal.

While Cook believes he is worthy of a new deal, Minnesota seems to be hesitant about giving him a long-term extension. In his first three seasons, the Florida State product has dealt with multiple injuries, missing a total of 19 games since 2017. Despite missing two games last season, Cook finished with a career-best 1,135 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.

Even though Cook would rather wait to report to camp until he receives a new deal, details in the new CBA could make it difficult for him to sit out. In the previous CBA, all of the fines accrued for players that held out of training camp could be eliminated if the player and the team negotiate a new contract.

However, in the new CBA, Cook would still have to pay on the fines that he accumulates. As an illustration, Cook would have to pay $50,000 per practice he misses with the Vikings. Given the fact he makes only $1.3 million in base salary in 2020, Cook is choosing to join his new teammates when training camps get underway next week.
