The Minnesota Vikings have a vacancy at offensive coordinator after Pat Shurmur was formally named the New York Giants’ new head coach.

The man Shurmur replaced, former Giants head coach Ben McAdoo, has been linked with the job. But Minnesota will continue talking to candidates, with former Seattle Seahawks and Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell set to come in for an interview sometime this week.

Bevell has been busy interviewing for other teams since being let go by the Seahawks after seven seasons in charge of the offense. He recently completed an interview with the Arizona Cardinals for their offensive coordinator job on Monday. Prior to taking the Seahawks job, Bevell spent five seasons as Vikings offensive coordinator.

The Vikings offense faces some uncertainty this offseason, particularly at the quarterback position. It remains to be seen who among the trio of Case Keenum, who led the team all the way to the NFC Championship Game, Teddy Bridgewater, and Sam Bradford, will be the team’s starting quarterback next season.

Still, whoever steps in at quarterback will have a formidable receiving duo in All-Pro Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs to work with. Thielen is coming off a career year with 91 catches for 1,276 receiving yards. Running back Dalvin Cook is also expected to return and provide a new dimension to the offense after missing most of his rookie year with a torn ACL.

Despite having less than stellar receivers to work with during his time in Seattle, Bevell was able to construct above-average passing offenses. Russell Wilson led the league with 34 passing touchdowns in the 2017 season, which tied a career-high.
