The Minnesota Vikings are not being shy about challenging quarterback Kirk Cousins during the team's offseason workouts.

Cousins had an interesting first season in Minnesota to say the least, as there were plenty of people who criticized his inconsistent play at times throughout the year.

But the Vikings have made it more than clear that he is their guy under center, especially considering how much money they spent to acquire him.

And head coach Mike Zimmer seems to understand that showing Cousins lots of different looks on defense this offseason will be key to improvement in certain areas, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

It makes sense why the Vikings are trying lots of different things to help Cousins improve, as his development will decide just how big of a step the entire offense will take next season.

He certainly has plenty of offensive weapons around him, and with Dalvin Cook seemingly back in a groove after returning from injury, there are lots of options for Zimmer and company when it comes to attacking opposing defenses.

And Cousins reaches his potential and helps the Vikings get back to the playoffs, he should be able to provide quite a response to his critics.
