Amid trade rumors brewing, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to play wide receiver Stefon Diggs on Sunday against the New York Giants, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Diggs isn't dealing with an injury. Instead, the Vikings wideout skipped practice and meetings earlier in the week. Though he classified the matter as a “cold,” the Vikings didn't list him inactive for injury or illness matters. Instead, there is speculation that he has asked for a trade out amid a Vikings offensive overhaul that doesn't include passing the ball.

Through the first four games of the season, Diggs has 13 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown. He is averaging 4.75 targets per game; that's a far cry from 2019, in which he averaged nearly 10 per. The demise of his box score statistics can be credited to Minnesota's shift from a pass-heavy offense to a run-heavy one as quarterback Kirk Cousins struggles to deliver the ball.

It's unknown how long Diggs will be on the Vikings roster. Though he said “there's truth to all rumors” regarding a potential request out, the 25-year-old doesn't have considerable leverage considering he has four years left on his contract. Minnesota has reportedly spurned trade talks too — which could be an attempt to drive up his price.

However, with the NFL trade deadline looming (October 29th), Diggs could be on the move sooner rather later. If the Vikings pass offense continues to struggle, that may be more definite.

Both the Vikings and Giants are 2-2 and are looking to stay in contention for the crown of their respective NFC divisions.
