Only hours after another successful season and a second championship since in the last three years, Golden State Warriors president and general manager Bob Myers assured that Steve Kerr will return as head coach next season, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.

“There's no doubt in my mind that he will return as the coach of this team,” Myers said after a 4-1 series win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. “I'm confident we'll have him back. Steve will be our coach.”

Kerr missed 11 games this postseason as he dealt with nausea and migraines and other symptoms as a result of a spinal fluid leak stemming from a back surgery from 2015. He sought out specialists in the matter at Stanford hospital to no avail, only to travel to Duke University for another consult and consequent procedure to alleviate the symptoms.

The 51-year-old coach ultimately came back for the last four games of the NBA Finals, resulting in the second title of his three-year stint at the helm of the Warriors coaching staff.

“I've been so lucky to be part of so many championship teams as a player and now as a coach, and it never gets old,” Kerr said in his post-game press conference. “But tonight, was a little different, just based on the things I've had to go through during this time.”

In his absence, assistant Mike Brown took the baton and sprinted to an 11-0 record before passing it back to Kerr upon his return.

“The one thing I didn't realize — I coached Steve as a player,” Brown said. “To see his passion and to feel his passion all year and then to be able to have him lead us these last games was unbelievable. An unbelievable feeling for him, an unbelievable feeling for me and an unbelievable feeling for the team. This is how it should've ended. Just like this.”
